Ash Canyon - April 13, 2025
There was nothing terribly exciting at the sanctuary today, although attendance remains high due to the interest in hummingbirds that have returned. I did get to see the Lucifer at last, but he was always facing away from the light, so his gorget shows as black, not purple. Maybe I'll have better luck as the season progresses. I may also visit more distant sanctuaries in hopes of seeing other species which don't always appear in Ash Canyon. Before getting to Ash Canyon, I've had a variety of species visiting my back yard. I managed photos of a pair of Gambel's Quails and a House Sparrow, but others have managed to hide within the leafy Palo Verde tree.
