Ash Canyon & Ramsey Canyon - June 28 & 30, 2024
It was a particularly slow day in Ash Canyon, so I didn't stay long or photograph many birds. I may have had a poor attitude that day, as well. It happens. Two days later, I went to Ramsey Canyon and spotted two Swainson's Hawks right away. I always enjoy seeing some kind of hawk other than Red-tailed, which is the most common hawk in our area. There I saw the new Beryline hummer nest, well hidden in a leafy maple tree. Apparently, last year's nest was destroyed by other birds, so a new and better one was required. You can barely make out the nest and the bird sitting on it.
The Swallow's may not be Cliff Swallows, but could be young Barn Swallows. I'm sure you don't really care that much.
