It was a beautiful morning as I drove alongside the Huachuca Mountains on my way to the canyon. Cool and crisp, but very pleasant in the sun. There were lots of birds flying everywhere around the sanctuary, just not many species. Every tree seemed to be overloaded with birds, especially the Lesser Goldfinches.

Another nice morning to usher out the month of January, several other visitors were already there by the time I arrived. I sat next to a man from Wisconsin, so we discussed his home state, then places he is seeing on the way to California. The most significant event was the arrival of a full family of javelinas, including a couple of tiny ones. The Orange-crowned Warbler made an appearance, too. Normally it is near impossible to see the orange patch on its head unless the bird raises those feathers. However, in the last photo, the patch is somewhat visible.
