San Pedro House & Miller Canyon - February, 2023
San Pedro House is another nearby bird sanctuary, located only seven miles from home. Within the San Pedro Riparian National Conservation Area, the sanctuary is staffed by volunteers and funded by donations. The feeders here attract a nice variety of birds, and several miles of trails lead through its grassland and along the river.

Miller Canyon is another canyon in the Huachuca Range. One B & B in the canyon is well known for its hummingbirds, but anywhere in the canyon can be good for birding. I was particularly pleased on this occasion to spot a covey of beautiful Montezuma Quail. It was my first ever sighting of this very elusive bird. I further encountered a tree full of Cedar Waxwings, so far the only time I've seen this species in the area.
