Ash Canyon - November 10, 2025

We had a few out of state visitors at the sanctuary today, one from Montana and a couple from Minnesota.  Both of those great states are good places to leave this time of year.  The weather here makes birding much more comfortable, even though we are still in the "bird doldrums".  Due to the relative scarcity of birds these days, I've combined photos from two different visits to Ash Canyon.  In addition to the regulars, the Lawrence's Goldfinch and the Common Ground Doves put in appearances occasionally.  Yellow-rumped Warblers have returned as they always do, in large numbers.  It seemed I had a magic camera, for every time I pointed it at a bird, it turned the bird into a Yellow-rump.  I do end up with too many photos of them, as they are a pretty bird and often pose well. It was cooler and windier than I expected this morning, and it appeared that the birds had hunkered down somewhere else, so I left after a short visit.  Yellow-rumped Warbler White-breasted Nuthatch (M) White-winged Dove Anna's (M) Anna's (J) Anna's (F) Lesser Goldfinch (F) Lesser Goldfinch (M) Curve-billed Thrasher Acorn Woodpecker (F) White-crowned Sparrow Chipping Sparrow
